Becas del Hornby Educational Trust 2010/11

The Hornby Educational Trust offers scholarships to study a one year full-time Masters Degree in an English Language Teaching (ELT) related subject in the UK.

Every year the British Council recruits ELT professionals to take up this prestigious scholarship. Previous winners have come from Mendoza, Catamarca, Tucumán, La Plata, Chubut and Buenos Aires.

Scholarships for 2010/11

The application process is open until 19 February 2010. Applications received after this date will not be considered.

Interested applicants should read the following criteria carefully:

While the selection panel will be interested in academic excellence, this is by no means the sole criteria. Special consideration will be given to those applicants who want to make a real difference on their return to their countries. We want to identify those people who can make a mark on their profession and inspire their colleagues.

Candidates should have:

successfully completed an undergraduate degree course equivalent to a Bachelors Degree in the UK (four-year full “profesorado” at national level or “licenciatura”).
been involved in some sort of developmental work as a trainer or manager e.g with the Ministry of Education or at a teacher training college, university etc.
attained a standard of English language competence broadly equivalent to a band 7 score on the International English Language Testing Service (IELTS).
If you meet these requirements and are interested in applying, please email the Hornby Scholarship application form stating your preference of institution to becas@britishcouncil.org.ar

Shortlisting will be completed by 26 February 2010. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview and two candidates are then nominated for a Hornby scholarship. The final decision is made by the Hornby Trust in the UK. Interviews will then be conducted during the week of 15 March 2010. Should you be shortlisted, you will be requested to bring the following documents 10 minutes before interview:

a full and up-to-date Curriculum Vitae in English.
copies of relevant documentation (university / professional qualification certificates etc).
two supporting references written in English and addressed to the British Council, stating the referees title and name, position, address, how long you have known him/her for and your professional relationship.
We cannot accept applications sent by fax or post or which arrive after the closing date.
